Antarès with Interchangeable Straps – Shimmering Symbiosis of Steel & Diamonds

Antares with diamonds

The Antarès with interchangeable strap added to its iconic appeal with a new case shape in 2018. Today Michel Herbelin French Watchmaking Studio unveils a new diamond-set addition to the collection. This modern, elegantly styled timepiece – complete with an ingenious system that enables you to change the strap yourself – will appeal to watch lovers who appreciate refined aesthetics.

Timeless charm

A strand of diamonds shimmers along either side of the sensuously curved steel case. For a total weight of 0.24 carats, the gemstones illuminate the rounded outline and highlight the meticulous finish of the chiseled lugs, drawing the eyes towards the sweeping face of the dial. Offering a clean reading of the time, its diamond hour markers are punctuated with stylised Arabic numerals only at 6 and 12 o’clock. The dial daintily orchestrates time against a silvered backdrop featuring sunray guilloché at its centre, or adorned with genuine white mother-of-pearl. This jewel of a watch is an ode to femininity, its gadrooned crown set with black onyx making it the picture of laid-back distinction.

A look for all occasions

Exuding an air of contemporary elegance, this Michel Herbelin watch revels in the charm of the brand’s playful patented interchangeable strap system. Straps are available in an exciting palette of colours and materials, ranging from black-tie to brunch casual, in single or double tour designs. They add style to any outfit, whatever the mood. Slide your choice of strap between the lugs of the case, and it clicks into place in a matter of seconds. Voilà: serious chic is child’s play.

On the starting line at Porquerolle’s Classique

Newport Chronograph Automatic Regatta

To mark five years of partnership with the Porquerolle’s Classique regatta, the Michel Herbelin French Watchmaking Studio unveils a new watchmaking instrument that pays tribute to the traditional grand yacht race: the Newport Chronograph Automatic Regatta. The timepiece is equipped with a 5 min-10 min regatta countdown function and available in two limited series editions that will delight speed-conscious sailing fans.

A convenient function for skippers in competition

A helpful crew member for any regatta, this Newport chronograph boasts a complication to count down the time remaining before the start of a race. Known as the countdown function, it appears in the minutes counter at 3 o’clock, which is slightly enlarged for optimal visibility. At its centre, a red hand in a striking compass shape is triggered – at the first firing of the starting gun – by the push-piece at 2 o’clock. Sweeping through two five-minute zones, coloured blue and red respectively, it indicates at a glance the minutes remaining before the starting gun is fired to signal that the starting line can be crossed.

Made for racing, this tri-compax chronograph can record elapsed times up to 12 hours. It features a tachymeter scale that runs from 60 to 400 km/h in graduated red at the top of the dial, allowing dedicated record breakers to measure their average speed over a given distance. Perfect for a range of sports and water-resistant to 100 metres, the watch is paired with an extremely tough FKM rubber strap. Meticulously finished for comfort on the wrist and designed specially to continue the line of the central attachment through to the folding clasp, this model packs a sporty chic punch with its smooth, glossy aesthetic.

Nautical style

Presenting a 43.5 mm steel case – polished and brushed to accentuate its three-faceted cut – this new Michel Herbelin chronograph is inspired by the streamlined architecture of stealth ships. This new-generation Newport is a sleek update of the instantly recognisable codes that made this iconic collection such a success: the strap’s central lugs, the porthole-style bezel, and the ship’s wheel stamped on the crown.

Beneath a bezel punctuated by five screws modelled on yacht winches, the dial spotlights the model’s seafaring spirit. The white minute track on the encircling flange ensures accurate readings of the time, whilst the dial’s deep blue background comes in a choice of a grained or vertical brushed finish, each in its own way reminiscent of the surface of the sea. The oversized hour and minute hands evoke floating pavilions. Treated with white luminescent coating, the hands offer a striking contrast, as do the luminescent hour markers that taper into the shape of a boat’s hull. The Newport Chronograph Automatic Regatta is a versatile dashboard that is perfectly proportioned for optimal display of all information and includes a date aperture at half past four.

With a new Swiss-made Sellita SW510 automatic mechanical movement on board, oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and incorporating 25 jewels, this timepiece offers a 42-hour power reserve. The transparent caseback reveals an oscillating mass engraved “Michel Herbelin” and decorated with a Côtes de Genève pattern, proffering a glimpse of the circular-grained bridges and frame.

As with all of the brand’s timepieces, this new-generation Newport was drawn, designed, assembled, adjusted and inspected at the Michel Herbelin studio in the Jura mountains of the Franche-Comté region. Heir to a French watchmaking tradition stretching back over 70 years, it offers the assurance of stringent technical standards.

Distinguishing features

Launched to mark the 17th Porquerolle’s Classique regatta which takes place on 13th to 16th June in the stunning Bay of Hyères in the South of France, the Newport Chronograph Automatic Regatta is available in a choice of two limited editions with engraved numbering on the caseback. The version with a vertical brushed blue dial on a white strap is available in 100 pieces, whilst the grained blue dial on a blue strap is available in 150 pieces, making this new Michel Herbelin a potential collector’s item.
